Remarks from the Mayor
Surendra Shrestha
Mayor and Coordinator,
Madhyapur Festival Main Committee
Statement by the Deputy Mayor
Madhyapur Thimi Municipality, located in the heart of Bhaktapur within the Kathmandu Valley, is renowned for its continuous preservation of Licchavi and Malla-era cultural and archaeological heritage. Here, we can witness an extraordinary example of the reconstruction of tangible heritage and the transmission of intangible heritage and traditions. Traditional crafts, professions, arts, agriculture, commerce, and the rich diversity of Newari cuisine are still very much alive in this region. Therefore, the Madhyapur Festival is being celebrated as a grand festival of tangible and intangible heritage, professions, and businesses. We believe this festival will open the doors to consistent internal and external tourism in Madhyapur Thimi.
We invite you to experience this extraordinary moment firsthand by visiting the Madhyapur Festival on **Poush 12, 13, and 14**. Thank you.
Bijay Krishna Shrestha
