Yomari is a traditional Newar dish from the Newar community. It is a steamed dish with an outer shell made of rice flour and filled with sweet ingredients like jaggery and sesame. Yomari plays a very important role in Newar society and is a major part of the Yomari Punhi festival. According to some, the triangular shape of the Yomari represents half of the hexagon, symbolizing Saraswati and knowledge.
